As I consciously come to closure for this year, I have much to be thankful for. This was a year of great challenges, and therefore, great teachings. I saw the best and the worst! Not out there! But in here; in my own heart and mind. What I thought I saw in the world was nothing but a reflection of my mind.
This is not easy medicine and is a grace for those of us on the spiritual path. Especially when we remember we are students in this great classroom of Life! Who are our Teachers?
We all have teachers, but don’t always acknowledge them! Who are they? “Them.” They are the “other.” All those images, sounds and individuals who have populated our minds – those are our teachers. They brought us drama, fear, celebration, silliness and music. They are the names and forms of our own hearts and if we wish to make peace and have this in our hearts, we must make peace with “them.”
And, we have Teachers. You know Who They are. They are the Ones Gone Beyond. Gurus, Masters. Buddhas, Christs. Surrendering to Them is the best gift you can give yourself this season or any season. It is the gift of humility and gratitude, two hands coming together in the heart – prayerful pose – which says – “I am here. I am ready to receive. I am willing.”
It’s that simple. They are the shareholders of the Great Trust. They deliver to us constantly a stream of Grace. And it is this Grace that came flowing into my heart throughout 2020. This mess is our creation, the making of our own minds and we are not alone! We who read this are joined with so many others! We can decide to make something different by allowing ourselves to receive the Grace of seeing, of using the power of Vision to see the world as it really is! Those out there, are in here (pointing to my heart.) They are my beloveds. And, through a Perfect Teacher, I am returned to the sanity of remembering that I love “them.” All of them. All beings. That is what I can take with me into 2021. My love and this is deepened through my devotion to my Teacher.
Your Teacher is the One to Whom you turn in time of need and in time of thankfulness. Your Teacher can be the Image of an enlightened being to Whom you give praise. Having this Teacher is game changing and as you have bowed at Her/His feet over these many years on your own pilgrimage, Their Presence becomes tangible. As if to say, “I am here.”
I am here.
In the midst of these images of death and anger, “I am here.” In the midst of your challenges and your fears, “I am here.”
Feel this as if you know it.
I AM HERE
This One will carry into this coming year only your blessings for this One is the emanation of reconciliation and love. This Divine Mother can only see the beauty in you, so that is what she takes across this threshold. Christ can only see what is real which is your Light for it comes from Light. Your Buddha nature is pristine, as are you. The Truth of you is what we carry over into this new adventure when we consciously let go of everything else.
Why pack anger? It is too heavy. Why pack fear? It is too unstable. Why not simply bring your self- your true Self -into this coming year and right now simply rest and say, “I am here.”
I AM HERE.
Be with yourself. Be still. Smile. Let this Life Force flow through you. Maybe you’ll dance through this day, lighter and holier and happier!
I AM HERE.
May this time as we say goodbye to 2020 bring you Remembrance of All that is Good, Holy and Bright. Peace to you always and in all ways.
In Love
I AM
Nellie

“two hands coming together in the heart” is such beautiful piece of prose. You paint with words. This is such a heartwarming image – no pun intended.
“This Divine Mother can only see the beauty in you, so that is what she takes across this threshold.”
This is how I felt that Grandma Margie treated us all. When I started to bitch and moan she always told me to leave it at the front door and only bring the love inside. I miss her so much always … and your writing makes my love of her feel more alive.
I am so happy that you took the time to share this! I love you and miss you a ton. Can’t wait to give you a big hug again and hear you sing!
