Seek and ye shall find
I have taken to walking a lot lately. Miles in the early morning. I have come to know where a heron feeds and sits around a creek between two highways; I have come to know where ospreys nest. I have come to know where neighbors cultivate a fig tree or bee hives. I have come to know the spirit of movement and stillness.
My walking is a meditation. I often review talks I am giving or classes I facilitate so I think my lips are moving and my hands gesticulate, but that’s okay. I am a fool. A fool for God. What is God? An inadequate 3 letter word trying to describe or contain the Infinite Reality. The Self.
And as I walk, I find messages from Light, literally everywhere. There in a crevice between the old bricks on this hilly sidewalk, something dances. And looking closer, it is a gem. Okay, a plastic one, but still. She called to me. As if to say, “look, I am everywhere, hidden in the small and the great.”
Another time, off a busy street, hidden along a fence line, there was another sparkle of dancing light and looking closer, I see one of those little stars that teachers put on elementary school pupils papers for “good job.” I loved that one. “Good job,” said the Universe and like a 3rd grader, my heart swelled.
These are everyday messages that are available to us all. You just have to look
It is the amazing perseverance of those plants that bloom through the cracks in the concrete and thrive! Like us.
Keep looking and keep thriving. You, yourself, are a message of light
